Privacy Policy - How we use your nonpublic information
We make every effort to ensure your information remains protected. We use nonpublic information to implement and administer the insurance product or service in which you or your employees are enrolled. These functions include confirming underwriting, enrollment, binding coverage, customer service, administering or servicing benefits or claims, reinsurance, participating in research projects, benefit management, and other similar activities. We also use your nonpublic information to determine if you might be interested in any of our other products or services.
With whom we may share your nonpublic information
We treat nonpublic personal information as confidential
We do not disclose nonpublic personal information about our customers to nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted or required by law. We may disclose all of the nonpublic personal information we collect (as described above) to our affiliates (such as owner-agents) or nonaffiliated third parties (such as insurance carriers whose products we administer and service) in order to provide the best possible service to you. When legally necessary, we ask your permission before sharing your information. Our information-sharing practices apply to our former, current and future customers.
We do not authorize affiliates or nonaffiliated third parties to use or share non-public information about you except when necessary to conduct the work they are performing for us or to meet insurance regulatory or other governmental requirements.
Why TWA is not offering an “opt out”
The law permits TWA to disclose your nonpublic personal information to unaffiliated third parties without offering an opt out in certain circumstances. For example, we are allowed to disclose nonpublic personal information to those entities that assist us in administering benefits or claims, to effect transactions authorized by you, to protect against fraud, for risk control purposes, to resolve customer disputes, and as otherwise required or permitted under the law. We are also allowed to disclose information without offering an opt out if the disclosure is to our accountants, attorneys, auditors and/or regulators. Because TWA has concluded that all our sharing of nonpublic personal information is covered by one of these allowable exceptions, we will not offer an opt out to our customers.
Accuracy of your nonpublic personal information that we possess
We strive to maintain the accuracy of your information. In order to help us maintain accuracy, you have the right to reasonably access your information. If you believe any of your information in our possession is inaccurate you may request that we amend, correct or delete the information that you believe to be erroneous.
Who will receive the initial Notice and when?
For group insurance products, TWA will send one notice to each policyholder, rather than to each insured under the policy. Where TWA acts as a third party administrator, we will deliver the insurance carrier’s Notice to the policyholder. Individual policyholders for whom TWA or one of its affiliates acts as agent will receive a copy of this Notice.
Changes to our Notice of Privacy policy and insurance information practices
We reserve the right to change our privacy policies and insurance information practices. If we make any changes to our policies or practices, we will provide you with a copy of a revised Notice as required by applicable law.
